About Patty
Patty is a contemporary realist painter based in Aptos, California. She creates paintings of everyday subjects in order to capture their unexpected beauty and mystery. With a focus on composition, light, and color, her work invites viewers to slow down and see the familiar in a new way.
Patty graduated from Drexel University’s Nesbitt School of Design and has spent three decades as a graphic designer, art director, and illustrator. She now brings that experience to her first love: painting.
About Patty’s Art
I’m drawn to everyday subjects that are often overlooked—discarded objects, quiet buildings, and the simple stuff of daily life. These things might seem insignificant at first glance, but they carry a presence that feels worth paying attention to. Through painting, I try to reveal their beauty and suggest the stories they might contain.
Light, color, and composition shape the mood of each piece. While my work is rooted in realism, I’m not after photographic precision. I’m more interested in creating a feeling: curiosity, recognition, or a subtle sense of mystery.
Painting helps me slow down and see more clearly. It’s where I find stillness and connect with the beauty in everyday life.
